Schlitz Happened! Comedian Dobie Maxwell

Dobie Maxwell is a nationally touring standup comedy headliner who has appeared on national TV, in several movies including “While You Were Sleeping” with Sandra Bullock and performed at Caesars Palace and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He is also a long time morning radio personality having worked all over North America and is the author of “Monkey in The Middle” a riveting true crime story about his childhood best friend who robbed the same bank twice and tried to blame one of the robberies on Dobie. ALL true! He has had a colorful life to say the least, and has created a one man CLEAN, FUNNY show about his childhood growing up in Milwaukee called “Schlitz Happened! An Old Milwaukee Blatz from the Pabst.” Dobie shares unique memories of local lore including TYME machines, bubblers, frozen custard, George Webb, “The Domes”, Samson and his stint as a ball boy for the Milwaukee Bucks during his high school years. He was also a vendor at County Stadium for a grand total of two games, a loyal fan of all Wisconsin sports and got to meet his three top heroes (in no particular order) Hank Aaron, Bob Uecker and The Crusher. If you spent any extended time in the “414” from the ‘60s to the ‘80s, this show will bring you back in style to an era that is gone forever but lives on in the hearts and memories of those lucky enough to be there. Heidi Freeby, affectionately known as “Ha Ha Heidi” is a local favorite—her comedic genius leaves audiences rolling in the aisles across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, and even Florida. As the host of a regular stand-up comedy show right here in Beaver Dam, she keeps the laughter flowing with her sharp, self-deprecating humor and hilarious takes on getting older. And let’s not forget about her poor husband—he’s practically a permanent resident under the bus, thanks to Heidi’s stories that always seem to land him there!

With more than 50 years (dog years) of stand-up comedy experience, Gerry Grothues honed his craft to perfection. Known for his kind demeanor, he’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet who’s on wife #3. This retired Air Force veteran, former recording artist, award-winning songwriter is the master of making absolute strangers laugh.

Gerry performs across the region, making multiple appearances at the Kenosha Comedy Club and Chicago’s Laugh Factory. He’s also the head honcho at Lake Country Comedy, where he hosts and produces comedy shows at American Legion posts and other venues in Southeastern Wisconsin.
