Reflections and Possibilities
November 26th, 2024

We’ve arrived at that choice moment in time where the holidays and the end of the calendar year come together to form a moment ripe for taking stock of where we are, giving thanks for what we have, and looking forward to what lies ahead. We’ve accomplished many great things this year. Here at BDACT we certainly have much to be thankful for. We’re looking forward to another wonderful year of opportunities for you to be entertained, and to get involved.
This year our Fine Arts Center was filled with rehearsals, costumes, music, dancing, and laughter. The sets were outstanding and the variety of plays and performances filled our “arts buffet” with something for everyone. Many old friends stopped by to help make a show come to life, and many new friends showed up for the first time. All contributed in ways that cannot be measured, like ripples going out when a pebble is dropped into a shiny pond. Sponsors and patrons were the strong supporters of the process, and an army of volunteers made it all come to life. It’s always magical, and it’s always so great to be part of.
Many other things happened here; unseen things which may not have caught your attention, but which have been, and will continue to be, life-changing for those involved. Knowledge and ideas were shared in classes and rehearsals. New skills were developed. Fears were conquered and confidence grew. Self-esteem was increased. Lifelong friendships began. Memories were made. We set the bar high for 2024, and we met our goals with a lot of help from this amazing community. This is the reason we chose, “The Heartbeat of the Theater” for the 2025 - 61st Season slogan. If you financially supported the theatre, participated in a show or attended a performance, ushered or served concessions, or simply forwarded a BDACT social media post, YOU are most definitely the heartbeat of BDACT. We are grateful for each and every one of you!
Our Patron Appeal for next year was just launched, as well as our new website and our 2025 Season Announcement. Our shows and performances for the 61st Season have been booked and scheduled. Auditions and rehearsals are well under way for shows beginning in January. One look at our show list and you’ll agree it’s our most ambitious season ever! With so much to accomplish we’re going to rely on your help. We’re looking forward to meeting you, getting to know you, working with you, and serving you fine entertainment opportunities that BDACT continues to be known for.
Yet we know there are people in our community who still haven’t been to a show here. With so many enthusiastic participants and audience members that may seem hard to believe, but it’s true. In fact, we have people at almost every performance who let us know it’s the first time they’ve been in the building, and they enjoyed it so much that they plan on coming back! We love to hear that, and we planned our next season to offer more chances to find something our audience members, be they new, or long-time attendees will enjoy.
With gift-giving season in mind, please stop by our box office on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 10 AM to 4 PM for some BDACT gift cards. Give them to those on your list who still haven't been here to become part of this growing audience. Gift cards are also great for the people who you already know LOVE to attend shows here. Giving the gift of entertainment in this way allows them to look over the schedule of shows and choose what they’d like to see. 2025 has classic theatre, musical performances, improv, thought-provoking dramas, and lots of laughter. New titles and familiar favorites. Shows for all ages and even great performances for people who really aren’t into theatre!
Here at BDACT, we’re all looking forward to another fantastic year of making memories with you, and in facilitating opportunities for personal growth in our community members. If you would like to join us by supporting, volunteering, performing, participating, enjoying a performance, or attending a class, please visit our new website at www.bdact.org, or give me a call at 920-885-6891. As always, I look forward to hearing from you!
