From Tell-A-Tale to TikTok

My love for music began at a young age, but being introduced to theater was a game changer. Auditioning for my first show in fourth grade at BDACT got me hooked. As I grew, my passion for performing continued through musicals and plays at school. In high school, I was able to combine my love of theater with another passion—photography—by taking photos for productions. (See above, photo taken June 2026, BDACT's Bright Star, actors Jackson Sauer and Annabella Hartwig.) This experience only deepened my appreciation for the many creative aspects of theater.

My involvement with BDACT has grown significantly over the past two years. I began exploring theater from a different perspective through assistant directing. I started with Four Glasses and the Winter Repertoire Company, and I hope to continue taking on more opportunities in directing. This year, I will once again be helping with WRC, where I will have the opportunity to help students understand what it is like to work in the professional theater world and connect with actors who have experience in the industry.

When BDACT learned that I was pursuing photography in school, I was invited to become involved with the marketing committee. This has allowed me to apply what I am learning in school to my work with the theater by photographing productions, promotional campaigns, and now TikToks. Combining two of my favorite creative outlets has been an incredible experience and has challenged me to look at theater in new ways.

During promotional shoots, I enjoy helping create images that capture the vision of a production. I can direct people into poses, suggest adjustments, and work with the team to make each image stronger. During dress rehearsals, photography presents a different challenge. I have to stay alert for interesting angles, moments, and details that showcase the energy and magic of live theater.
