For any play, the set is an important part of the storytelling, but for a show like The Play That Goes Wrong, the set is less a backdrop and more a member of the cast. It’s a dynamic and crucial character in its own right, delivering punchlines and creating chaos right alongside the actors. Designed by one of BDACT’s master set designers and builders, Patrick Lutz, the set for our production is a masterpiece of comedic chaos. From collapsing walls to falling props, this set is designed to fall apart in the most spectacular ways — all while keeping our cast safe.

Patrick finds it challenging to design and create a set with so many facets that may or may not get destroyed during each performance. When he spoke with other set builders who worked on another theater's run of this show, they told him he should be “prepared to rebuild things every morning after the previous night's performance.”

Get ready to see how we turn theatrical disaster into comedic gold. Don't miss BDACT's production of The Play That Goes Wrong, a hilarious production where the set is actually one of the stars. The show runs October 10-19 in the BDACT Fine Art Center’s Kamps Auditorium. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the show page on the BDACT website.
