Calling all high school performers! The Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre (BDACT) is excited to announce open auditions for its upcoming area high school production of Bright Star Auditions will be held on Tuesday, April 7, and Wednesday, April 8, from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the BDACT Fine Arts Center, located at 117 W. Maple Ave.

Inspired by a true story and featuring a Tony-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Bright Star is a sweeping, heartfelt journey through the American South in the 1920s and 1940s. The story follows literary editor Alice Murphy, whose life is transformed when she meets a young soldier home from World War II. Their connection sparks a journey into Alice’s past, unearthing a story of loss, hope, and the transformative power of second chances.

BDACT invites all current high school students to audition for this summer’s production. Students should prepare for a three-part audition process: 1–2 minutes of a prepared song, a prepared read (available on the BDACT website), and a short choreography session.

"We are looking for students who are ready to dive into these richly developed characters and bring this soul-stirring music to life," says the BDACT production team. Interested students should visit bdact.org to sign up for an audition slot via SignUpGenius and complete the online audition form. Students must bring a completed conflict calendar to their audition.

Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre is dedicated to providing high-quality theatrical experiences and educational opportunities for the community. For more information regarding character descriptions, audition forms, and sign-ups, please visit www.bdact.org/auditions.
