The first thing the audience sees when entering the Kamps Auditorium is the stage. Whether the show’s design is simple or complex, it plays a crucial role in setting the mood for the entire show. We’re looking to expand our team of scene creators. If you’re creative, we want to hear your ideas. If you have construction skills, your knowledge can help us build impressive sets. If you’re interested in learning new skills, our team of enthusiastic volunteers will be happy to teach you and help you grow.
During the Stagecraft Workshops, students, along with select experts and two talented instructors will work side-by-side, guiding and encouraging them as they paint, build and create pieces. This collaborative, mentorship-style environment allows students to learn new skills, build confidence and create something truly special together. This session will focus on Middle School and High School age participants, however all are welcome to attend. No experience is needed. Just creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
The first show students will work on is the upcoming production of the Class Act’s show, The Wizard of Oz... and Toto Too! We will teach you how to make and decorate whimsical trees, Munchkin houses, Dorothy’s house, Emerald City gates, throne room pillars, Toto’s cottage, and more.
The Stagecraft Drop-In Workshops meets on Mondays from 5:00–6:30 PM in the BDACT Scene Shop. This session of the class will end once the production is performed on March 28 and 29. More sessions will be created for other productions in the future.
