Dear BDACT patrons,
The BDACT Management and Board of Directors have made the difficult decision to postpone the annual summer musical THE LITTLE MERMAID. The Little Mermaid, however, has been approved to take place in the summer of 2021. We recently consulted with a doctor who works for public health within the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and also consulted with local physicians and reviewed CDC and state COVID-19 guidelines. While many restrictions are being lifted around the area, experiences indicate that group rehearsals and performances for singers, dancers, and musicians have a higher rate of coronavirus transmission than other activities. The health and safety of the cast, crew, and audience members remain our top priority. Also, the COVID-19 virus could re-emerge and limit gatherings and businesses once again. We felt now was the right time to make a decision before much work, effort, and resources were put into productions, only to close down later. Other area community theatres have similarly canceled summer productions.
We sincerely thank show director Ryan Klug and his production team for the work and many hours they already contributed. We also thank the many people who auditioned for the production. Everyone is disappointed not to have them entertaining our area communities this summer.
BDACT has come a long way since beginning in 1964. With your continued support, the theater continues to grow and offer more entertainment to the community each year. Together we’ll get through these rough times. Live performances can be magical; we all miss the interaction with performers and audiences and seeing a new class of youth light up the stage for their first time. Nevertheless, BDACT is working hard to provide performance opportunities online. Please stay tuned to WWW.BDACT.ORG or our Facebook page for more updates on opportunities and performances.

In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World.”
