Paint a Tile for a Mosaic Mural
We are honored to add Eric Kalkhurst to our Portrait Mural this year!

Come on out to help create the final installment of Beaver Dam’s Portrait Project, the wall of murals on the outside of the BDACT Fine Arts Center. Joining local legends Lois Ehlert, Nancy Zieman, and Fred MacMurray will be local actor, Eric Kalkhurst (1900-1957). Eric graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1919 and went on to appear in 21 Broadway productions and four movies. As movies transitioned from silent to talking motion pictures, Eric was retained by MGM Studios to teach stage-acting skills to upcoming actors. Among his earliest students were Clark Gable and Jimmy Stewart. Kalkhurst chose to be buried in his hometown of Beaver Dam in Oakwood Cemetery.
Families are needed to help paint the numbered tiles, and volunteers are needed to help assist painters. World-renowned portrait artist Stephen Bennett, who has a studio in Beaver Dam, spearheads the creation of these community mosaic murals.
